Green living in the House of Adobe-the benefits of living in a House of Adobe Green

On a visit to Tucson, in 2003, an old friend of mine school, Daniel Snyder of Westwind Solar electric, introduced me to the designer and Builder Tom Wuelpern.  As the owner of award winning Rammed Earth development, Wuelpern built many a Adobe House in the Tucson area.

Wuelpern lives and works in the District of Barrio Santa Rosa de Tucson central and the 800 block of Avenida Meyer was a focus of principle of his creativity.  Here he built homes that complement the vintage adobes that historic neighborhood. When he arrived there wasn't a single House left on this stretch of Avenida Meyer once Wuelpern had to live off of a trailer when building your first House. He says that the subdivision was "a little rough" and that occasionally he would sit in front of the trailer "with" a weapon on my knees.

Things have changed since the early days, when people said that Wuelpern was crazy to build in a "favela" original residents now share the neighborhood Santa Rosa with, artists, architects, Symphony musicians and many other creative types attracted by the rustic character of Adobe House.

Building Adobe was brought first Southwest by early Spanish settlers that were originally introduced to it by the moors of North Africa.

An old adobe After dusty avenues of another neighborhood crowds, many of them painted in vibrant colors that scintillate the heat of the desert.  Bairro Santa Rosa really have the feeling of a traditional Mexican city.

I, being a type "creative", was delighted with it and when Wuelpern offered me the opportunity to have some information about the Adobe House that he was about to build, I had to say "Yes".

And has been a delight to discover the pleasures of a small house adobe green.

The walls are 18 inches thick and the floor is poured concrete with a radiant heating system embedded in it.I chose the recycled jeans insulation that is as effective as fiberglass to temperature but even better for sound and greener and ecological so it never will pose any danger to the environment or the health of anyone.

I have a feeling snug just thinking about my abode of adobe.

Interior painting on the walls is uniquely suited why a clay painting composed of non-toxic pigments Earth originated the landscapes of the desert itself. all other paints interiors are non-VOC, then they don't pollute the interior space of the House.I'm Always impressed by smell yucky toxic chemicals from paints, carpets, and other components of the newly constructed or renovated conventional buildings. Is the first thing I notice and there is nothing this green life, ecological, adobe.

In addition to benefit our health by natural toxins not out gassing ink allows the adobe walled breathe because it does not form a slicker between indoor air and walls. These walls then can act as a reservoir of temperature and humidity for the House that stabilizes the port on climate through the day.

Adobe is not a very efficient insulating material for a House of adobe is not the best choice for regions with mild winters, but is an excellent choice for the desert, where it gets very hot during the day and can be very cold at night. This is because Adobe has a good "thermal mass", which means that as the solar heat is absorbed by the outer walls it gradually penetrates through the wall to warm the Interior overnight. next morning cold night air cooled wall to contribute, in turn, the low temperatures inland during the day, this allows me to reduce the heating and air conditioning.

Since adobe is essentially a material inert content "toxic" of the structure is extremely reduced. This construction of adobe makes, when feasible, an alternative very attractive green life. construction of Adobe is a reasonable way to achieve sustainable appropriate spaces for us and for the environment.

This is a very comfortable life of green and eco. Adobe House is a beautiful residence that does not put any demand or charges on its occupants; He feels neutral and enriches the spirit with its lightweight and benevolent nature.
